DECALL

A world stands before us... scattered sounds reach us...a life seems to emerge from these visible and audible nuisances...

Show of dance theatre created from noises recorded in the city of Brussels. This saturation of sounds creating an anguish to our own movement is the starting point.

Decay – dehumanization – declin - physical degradation

After the creation of a sound library, we explored different sound states: pure sound, melodious, rhythmic - played on the variations: crescendo, decrescendo, acceleration, slowing down... The addition of an imaginary language contributes to the loss of reference points that are established throughout the piece. It is given to see, to hear, to feel. It calls for an effort, to go towards...and therefore to appeal to one's senses, to go to unknown places to finally come back to oneself, to the sensitive and the subtle.

How to go from cacophony to polyphony? / What music is created from all these everyday sounds? / What is my participation in this cacophony, and what place do I find among these sounds? / Does the saturation of the senses play on my physicality?

Without facial expressions, with hearing and sight severely obstructed, the body becomes the site of expression. Breathing, constricted by the mask and the plastic material, becomes a place of heightened awareness, experienced as a means of survival. The mask connects us to the organic rhythm of breath (...) We are in the primal moments of life. (...)The search for amplified movements becomes necessary due to the mask and the bags, carrying us toward the unreal." Guy Freixe.
